The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton.

This time two years ago, I had every ambition to get my baking business off the ground. Having come from a background of corporate marketing, and being no stranger to entrepreneurship, I had some doubts about how I would make it all come together.

So, I started planning, and in the June of 2017, I was raring to go. I quit the same job I had gone back to after my first attempt at self employment had dwindled into a pipe dream. I traveled to the Namibian desert on a quest to find myself and some answers with my then partner of only a few months. I did some serious investigation and research into my chosen path, and I even consulted a professional life coach. I was serious. I was excited. And then…..life happened.

In the September of 2017, I fell pregnant with my little boy. My second child. And all of my plans came dwindling to a halt. Not because I wasn’t serious, and not because my hopes and dreams had changed, but because my life was about to be turned upside down.

So, let’s just say that 2018 was an interesting year. I learned so much about myself. I lost, I gained and I loved in almost every area of my life. I welcomed not only a new little babe, but also a whole new family.

Having successfully made it out on the other side, I knew I could finally get down to the business of making my little bakery a reality. And so, Finchly was born. A namesake for my children, and the birth of my fourth child.

I so look forward to sharing with you this awesome journey filled with the smells of my kitchen, the sounds of my children, the sight of my glorious decorated cakes, the touch of buttery flour between my fingers and the taste of many delicious bakes to come!
